“Truth is I thought it mattered…
I thought that music; mattered.
But does it Bollocks?
Not compared to our people matter.”
– Brassed Off (1996)
My grandmother passed away when I was very young due to breast cancer. (I lost the other to stroke the following year) But with us she left not only her gift but her personal piano she used to record and practice for church each Sunday. It was on that very same piano that I taught myself how to play, read and eventually write my own sheet music. Listening to her recordings as inspiration.
I have an interesting relationship with music… And while I have fluidly with over 30+ Musical Instruments, a complete fluency in reading, writing and composing music; I am quite shy with my talents. Not out of fear but preservation. Music is how I express emotion. The effervescent state of my very soul. To attach money or fame to that feels poisonous. Any “clout” I’ve accumulated thus far has been by accident. Solely by accident.
